The Funky Blu Roots are currently booking and looking forward to scheduling an engagement at your venue, event or festival in anticipation of their upcoming "Barn Burnin'" CD live recording release, the follow-up to their previous original releases “Meter” of 2013 (A Syracuse Area Music Award – SAMMY, nominee) and “Owasco Highball.”

    The Funky Blu Roots were well received at The Monte-Temblant International Blues Festival July 9th "The Funky Blu Roots, the favorite of the programming of the Festival! #tremblant #blues" and played a return visit to the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, and successfully performed at The Sherwood Inn Rythum & Blues Festival July 27th, August 2nd they will be opening up for Jefferson Starship at The Deauville Island Music Festival in Auburn, NY along with a return performance at the Flaming Leaves Festival Oct. 12th in Lake Placid, NY

The Funky Blu Roots have performed a plethora of venues as well as at many festivals including such formidable performances as opening act for Johnny Winter at the “Lilac Festival” and sharing the stage with Ana Popovic and Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds at the “Big Rib BBQ & Blues Fest”, both at Highland Park in Rochester New York.

    Other reputable appearances were headlining the "Toro Run 1 year Anniversary” in Ovid, NY “Goosewatch Winery 15th Anniversary” celebration in Romulus, “Letchworth Sate Park Blues Festival” and the “Finger Lakes Wine Festival” in Watkins Glen NY.

    The summer of ’11 saw the band kick-off the Main Stage entertainment as opening act at Inner Harbor in Syracuse NY for the “New York State Blues Festival.” (See YouTube video link at:  http://funkybluroots.com/videos.php )

    The Funky Blu Roots features the core talents of songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Mikal Serafim of Miami Beach and his wife, Auburn NY native, Nancy Giannone on bass guitar.

    “Meter” will feature guest appearances by Hammond B-3 specialist Steve McNally, harmonica wizard Tom Townsley, percussionist Steve Reichlen, sax master Danny Mark and drummer Phil “The Kid” Leone.  “Owasco Highball” featured guest appearances by artists such as drummer David Olson (a two-time Grammy award-winner, formerly of the Robert Cray Band and Savoy Brown), Doc Allison, Townsley, Chris Sawyer and Reichlen.

    The Funky Blu Roots, which was formed in 2005, mix their original songs during a live performance with unique arrangements of covers by such artists as The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers Band, The Steve Miller Band, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Freddie King, Derek Trucks, Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix, and Carlos Santana, among many others.
